MWA welcomes families of all ages to this new, interactive and fun program. On August 21 we explore the art of portraits. Make your own family portrait in the art studio. Watch guest artists sketch in the galleries, and have your family portrait sketched on site! Take a try at a gallery scavenger hunt. View the art from the exhibit To See Ourselves as Others See Us: Contemporary Wisconsin Portraits. Saturday, August 21  (1 - 4 P.M.)

Join MWA members and guests for an exciting day in Door County. Led by former MWA Assistant Director Cheryl Parker, this trip offers you the chance to visit a cherished Wisconsin locale amongst friends and art enthusiasts and sample the rich visual legacy that thrives in Door County. The morning includes a visit to the Popelka Trenchard Glass Studio and Miller Art Museum. Next is Woodwalk Gallery for a catered lunch. The afternoon includes a visit to Juddville Clay Studio and Edgewood Orchard Gallery and Sculpture Garden. The trip concludes with a cheese and wine reception at Cheryl Parker’s historic dairy farm and art studio.

In conjunction with the exhibition Here At Last: African-American Artists who Teach at Wisconsin Colleges, Universities and Schools, on view at MWA through November 7, join us for this engaging evening of art and fun. Meet the artists from the exhibition. Celebrate African-American Wisconsin artists at MWA with friends, live music, poetry and food prepared by Milwaukee chef Dave Swanson from Braise on the Go.

Cultural Programming for People with Memory Loss and their Caregivers

The Museum of Wisconsin Art presents a new, free monthly museum program: Spark! Led by museum education staff, this program provides an engaging morning of art discussion and dialogue for adults with memory loss and their caregivers. Selected themes, artists, and exhibitions are highlighted during each interactive program in the museum’s galleries. Spark! offers adults the opportunity to share an enriching museum experience together.

Spark! is the last Wednesday of each month from 10:30 am – 12 Noon. Space is limited and pre-registration is requested. Spark! is free of charge.

In appreciation for all that our teachers do, a special evening of art, history, food and wine. Teachers of South Eastern Wisconsin are invited to a special night just for K-12 educators in West Bend.

The Museum of Wisconsin Art, the Old Courthouse Museum, and Old Sheriff’s Residence and Jail will host this special night just for Teachers. Discover great ways to incorporate Wisconsin art and history into curriculum with help from the West Bend museums. Learn more about:
