Organization Profile:
The Museum of Wisconsin Art is America’s newest regional art museum, yet it is 47
years old. Based on a core collection of late 19th century Wisconsin art, the museum
embarked on a mission to collect, preserve and document the art of Wisconsin, representing
all time frames, media and culture. Within the next 24 months the museum will embark
on an exciting and dynamic building program that will nearly double its size to
32,000 square feet. It will include four classrooms for a rapidly expanding educational
program, visible collections storage, a café, seven large galleries, and an art
study and research center.
Description:
We are seeking a creative and self-motivated professional who will lead our development
efforts and assist with the completion of the MWA Capital Campaign. The position
reports to the Executive Director and works cooperatively with the Executive Director
on fundraising initiatives. This is a full-time position, with one half time report,
occasional contracted help, and various volunteers. The Development Director develops,
implements, and manages a comprehensive development plan, including annual memberships,
annual campaign, corporate sponsorships, grants, planned giving, special events,
and endowment enhancement.
Job Qualifications:
Minimum four years relevant experience. Demonstrated strength in strategic cultivation
planning and tactical implementation, database management, supervision, grant writing,
and special events management. Experience with cultivating and soliciting donors
of $1,000.00 and higher preferred. Candidates will need to be able to work effectively
with the MWA staff and a diverse group of stakeholders, especially key donors and
volunteers.
