The Wisconsin Art Archives and Research Library contains information on over 6000 Wisconsin artists. The archives consist of files and reference books offering biographical / exhibition information and price guides.

RESEARCH FEE STRUCTURE AND GENERAL INFORMATION

FRIENDS USE

  • Free use of archives (Membership benefit)
  • $15 per hour fee for basic research provided by WBAM staff
  • Contact staff for complex research and analysis provided by WBAM

GENERAL PUBLIC AND NON PROFIT USE

  • $15 per hour fee for use of archive up to four hours
  • $20 per hour for basic research provided by WBAM staff
  • Fee varies contact staff for more complex research and analysis

BUSINESS USE

  • $35 per hour fee for use of archives for up to four hours
  • $75 per hour fee for basic research provided by the WBAM staff
  • Fee varies contact staff for more complex research and analysis

EDUCATIONAL USE

  • Free use of archives for high school and full-time college students

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • For email and telephone requests credit card payment must be made in advance of transmitting research results.
  • One hour minimum will be charged, billing will be by the ½ hour thereafter.
  • Photo copies and fax are .10 per page.
  • Contact archive staff for photographic reproduction and publication fees.
  • Duplicate Wisconsin art video tapes can be checked out for any five day period for $5 charged to a credit card. Late fees at $1 per day and lost video tape fees of $15 will be charged to the credit card account. Video tapes without duplicates must be viewed at the museum, the same fee will be charged.
  • Members of the museum are exempt from these fees.
  • The West Bend Art Museum accepts tax deductible contributions to support the archives but no services or goods can be offered in exchange. To learn more about supporting the archives contact any member of the museum staff.

Several books on Wisconsin art are available for sale at the museum or online.

ARCHIVE RESOURCES

The archives contain individual files on over 3,800 early Wisconsin artists from the timeframe of approximately 1800 to 1950. It also contains files on related Wisconsin art subjects such as art organizations, schools, panorama painters, pre white settlement Native American art, etc. Also available are hundreds of related books some dating back to the 19th century. Approximately 200 video tapes on both historic and contemporary Wisconsin art are also available.
