Catch Art In Action

Third Saturdays, every other month, 1 -4 pm

MWA welcomes families of all ages to this new, interactive, fun program series. Drop in for special art making projects, gallery tours, exploration games, performances and surprises.

Join us for an afternoon of exciting activities as the museum comes alive. Stay for an hour, or stay for the afternoon! Free with general admission. Children under 12 are always free! Free for museum members.

Saturday, April 17 – Festive Gathering

Celebrate the art of Truman Lowe, a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation. Meet Wisconsin Native American artists and learn about Woodland Indian traditions. Create a unique piece of art inspired from nature to take home.

Saturday, June 19 – Metal, Chalk and Animals

Join artist Bill Reid who will share his art of metal welding with demonstrations on the museum grounds! Create chalk art on the museum sidewalks. Explore the museum’s art animals with a gallery hunt. Bill Reid’s animal sculptures will delight families.

Saturday, August 21—Picture Me!

Explore the art of portraits. Make your own family portrait in the art studio. Meet artists and watch them sketch portraits in the galleries. Take a try at a gallery scavenger hunt! View the art from To See Ourselves as Others See us: Contemporary Wisconsin Portraits.

Saturday, October 16—Stories Through Art

Discover the stories that art can share. Make a family story art piece with MWA art instructors. Listen to storytellers in a special performance. Celebrate the importance of sharing family stories.
