Since our new building opened in April 2013, MOWA has been the recipient of over 100 extraordinary works of art that are
now part of our permanent collection. This exhibition recognizes the generosity of the patrons and donors committed to sharing Wisconsin art with a wider public.
Housing over 4,000 works of art by more than 350 artists, MOWA is unequalled in its dedication to the visual artists in our state. Careful and considered curation of the permanent collection galleries together with a state-of-the-art visible storage area gives us the unique opportunity to show the depth and variety of our collection.
Given in Trust: New Gifts is another occasion to highlight some of the recent gifts made possible through a range of art acquisition efforts. Works by Truman Lowe, Tom Bamberger, Robert von Neumann, and Roy Staab were purchased with funds from over 100 donors at The Art Ball 2013. Other works by Tom Jones, Arthur Thrall, Steve Gerhartz, Dean Meeker, George Mann Niedecken, and Tom Uttech were acquired variously as designated purchases through individual or foundation donations, corporate gifts, or family bequests. We are deeply grateful for the trust all donors have shown in MOWA to own, preserve, and contextualize important artists in our state.
