Summer Dances, Monotypes by Jan Serr
July 24–October 8, 2014
Jan Serr, Summer Dances #1, Monotype on paper, 2014
Initially, Jan Serr imagined a career as a mezzosoprano. However, a drawing class taught by Schomer Lichtner at UW-Milwaukee changed her life. Early on, Schomer encouraged her to explore figurative work and it has been an enduring element in her art ever since. In Summer Dances
she concentrates on figures that explore the body in motion with expressive, gestural lines. This new group of prints radiates color and celebratory movement that will have you tapping your toes.
