Arthur Thrall is a Milwaukee-based painter and printmaker who transforms simple lines into graceful compositions of elegant curves and flowing shapes. Inspired by music and the art of calligraphy, this renowned Wisconsin artist has an international reputation and is held in the collections of the Tate Gallery (London), the Victoria & Albert Museum (London), the Smithsonian Institution, and the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1961, Thrall achieved national exposure through a solo exhibition at the Smithsonian.

In addition to an impressive career as an artist, Thrall has also passed on his knowledge and expertise through teaching. He served as the chair of the art department at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin and held the Ferrar-Marrs Chair in Fine Arts. In 2011, he received the Wisconsin Visual Art Lifetime Achievement Award and just this spring, was recognized by the Society of American Graphic Artists (SAGA) with a Lifetime Achievement Award in honor of his distinguished career as a printmaker.
