Comics with Pizzazz
Thursday, June 18 2:30–7:30

Explore how to turn your idea into a comic. Tom Wallestad, art professor at Marian University and comic enthusiast, leads this unique workshop with a focus on character development. Learn new techniques in drawing, lettering, design, and storytelling to create a powerful comic cover. Break for a slice of pizza over a group sharing exercise in this fun session. All supplies included.

Chalk Art Camps: Become a Street Painter
Tuesday, July 21, 10:30–3:30

Stretch your imagination with Chalk MONSTERS and CARtoons! Learn how to create fun monsters and wacky cars, select colors, and use pastel chalk from expert Janet Tombros, a certified Master Street Painter with the Florida Chalk Artists Association and one of the featured chalk artists at MOWA’s Art & Chalk Fest on July 25–26. The camp concludes with a mini student Chalk Fest for all to see. All supplies included.

Become a Zinester
Tuesday, August 4, 1:00–4:00

Become a zinester! During the summer of comics, Milwaukee Zine Fest is at MOWA to teach teens how to make self-published magazines called zines. Led by Milwaukee illustrator and visual storyteller Quinn Blackshere, this workshop explores how comics and zines work together and culminates in making a page for a group comic zine to take home. All supplies included.
