Florence Eiseman
Minneapolis 1889 — 1988 Milwaukee
Fashion legacy Eiseman not only revamped children’s clothes, she helped redefine the postwar child. Her quality designs became an international brand, and still today connote status and affluence. After marrying her husband, Laurence, and moving with him to Milwaukee, she began making children’s clothing as a hobby. It soon turned into a thriving enterprise. In 1955, Eiseman received the Nieman Marcus Fashion Award. Her “look” is characterized by A-line silhouettes, coordinated designs for siblings, and even options specifically for children with disabilities.
