Art Resources for Teachers

Introduce Wisconsin art into your classroom

MOWA’s programs, classes, and resources invite educators and students to explore, discuss, and reflect on the ideas that lie at the heart of Wisconsin art.

College and University

MOWA welcomes higher education audiences to engage with its collection and exhibitions. Tours and seminar-style classes can be designed with a curator to hone critical thinking skills and broaden art-world engagement. College and university students receive discounted memberships when visiting with their instructor.

Tips for Visiting with Your Class

Requesting a tour is easy. Tours last fifty to sixty minutes and are designed to engage students in close looking and discussion. The maximum group size is sixty, and we require a chaperone for every ten students. We encourage an optional studio art activity as part of your visit.

Museum Etiquette Guidelines

Please review our Museum Etiquette Guidelines with students and chaperones before arriving at MOWA to ensure a safe and rewarding experience.

  • Please keep the artwork safe by not touching or climbing on objects. We recommend keeping an arm’s length distance from the artwork.
  • Running in the galleries is not permitted, and inside voices are encouraged to prevent distracting other visitors.
  • Talking on cell phones in the galleries is discouraged.

  • Cell phone photography is permitted unless otherwise indicated.
  • Please remind students to be respectful of differing opinions and to be open-minded about artworks that may have challenging subjects. We ask teachers and chaperones to encourage constructive discussion around the works of art.
