Sharon Kerry-Harlan

Miami 1951

Miami-born Kerry-Harlan still spends time in Florida but resides primarily in Wisconsin where she received her BA from Marquette University and studied art at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. She served as an academic coordinator at Marquette and an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, but today is focusing full-time on her own artwork, which includes mixed media and photography as well as her signature textiles, and addresses social themes relevant to Black identity. Her work has been shown at the Smithsonian/Renwick Gallery and the American Craft Museum, among others, and published in books and catalogues.
