Suzanne Rose

Kenosha 1964

Photographer Rose started out with a Hasselblad camera and a darkroom, but today is turning increasingly to digital techniques. She studied at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago and spent some years in that city before returning to her home state and settling in Door County with her husband, artist Jim Rose, and their family. Her quiet images convey a strong sense of place in which beauty is in danger from abuses to the environment; titles with GPS coordinates invite viewers to witness the crimes. She has received several awards and her photographs are in numerous public collections.
