Talk | Three Routes through Wisconsin’s Magic Landscape with Robert Cozzolino
Three Routes through Wisconsin’s Magic Landscape with Robert Cozzolino
Saturday, January 14 | 2:00–3:00
Travel along three paths into Wisconsin’s magic landscape to consider how artists such as Marshall Glasier and his circle, Fred Smith, Tom Uttech, and others responded to nature. Why has the fantastic been a consistent lens through which artists in the state have processed their relationship to nature? Is there something in the water? Exploring three episodes and ideas in Wisconsin’s art since 1940, Robert Cozzolino PhD, Curator of Paintings at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, will consider some ways in which artists transformed the landscape they depicted and how the landscape changed them.
