MOWA’s inaugural exhibition inside Wisconsin’s first-of-its-kind arts hotel, Saint Kate, considers Milwaukee’s vibrant historic traditions and characteristic social realities through the work of ten artists who live or work in the city: Mark Brautigam, Brema Brema, Adam Carr, Portia Cobb, Mark Klassen, David Lenz, Jessica Meuninck-Ganger, Lon Michels, Keith Nelson, and Nathaniel Stern. The exciting visual cacophony of diverse views and interpretations includes unexpected architectural details, urban detritus, neighborhood vignettes, spectacularly lit night scenes, transportation systems, marginalized communities, and bastions of power.
