About the Installation

Reconfiguring MOWA’s Landscape

Permanent Outdoor Installation

MOWA | West Bend

Korean-born Jason S. Yi’s conceptually driven work is rooted in his bi-cultural background. His artist father practiced both Asian and Western approaches to seeing and rendering the world.

Yi’s recent site-specific installations repurpose humble, often industrial, materials to project a romantic landscape—underscoring the precarious co-existence of human beings and the natural world. Here, in The Legend of the White Snake, an ancient tale underlies the formal transformation of PVC pipes. Installed in 2019.
