About the Exhibition
A quiet study of subtle movement and light—providing the viewer with a contemplative art experience
Opening Party | December 4 | 5:00-7:00

Raised in Milwaukee and educated at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Laurel Lueders’s photographs convey a sense of time and place without a definitive narrative. By varying the shutter speed and moving the camera, she creates gestural lines with light that capture the invisible as visible. The result evokes an otherworldly sense of reinterpreted space, newly imagined place, and the foggy transition of time. Ethereal and light, her images are reminiscent of an unspecified place pulled from a distant memory. In addition to photographs, the exhibition includes a wall-sized projection of separate still images from Lueders’s Shifting series—a quiet study of subtle movement and light—providing the viewer with a contemplative art experience, a much needed respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Lueders is currently the Chair of the Visual Studies Department at LIM College in New York City, dividing her time between the US and Europe.
