Lois Bielefeld has always wanted to create a series exploring religion and the Church. During her 2015 artist residency in Luxembourg, she was struck by how the Catholic Church played an integral role in daily village life—impacting people’s routines, infiltrating their homes, and inspiring their beliefs. Her project combines portraits taken where subjects felt most connected to their faith with audio interviews and ambient sounds.
