Atrium

Within sight of the Milwaukee River, this installation of Truman Lowe’s canoe sculptures is perfect for MOWA’s Atrium.

Nationally recognized sculptor Truman Lowe, a Ho-Chunk from Black River Falls, predominantly uses wood, specifically willow saplings, to craft elegant yet symbolic work. His installation of canoe sculptures within sight of the Milwaukee River is a poetic reminder of both the practical value of the canoe and its metaphorical symbolism of the journey from life to death.
