The wilderness has inspired art in every medium. In conjunction with Magic Wilderness: Dreamscapes of the Forest, MOWA invites Wisconsin filmmaker Beah Travis to do a private screening and discussion of her award-winning short film Way Upstate. This film roots discovery and healing with a sense of place in nature. Continue to make connections in the Magic Wilderness exhibition with Curator of Public Programs Ally Wilber in an after-hours tour.

What is a program you have enjoyed at MOWA as a member or volunteer?
The new Second Saturday program has been a lot of fun! I love watching the family’s excitement as they look for clues throughout the gallery to solve the Museum Mystery and play Gallery Explorer Bingo, then design and create a project together!

What personal connections do you have at MOWA?
My Uncle Ron has long been active at MOWA and, up until he had a stroke a few years ago, he volunteered every week in the studio. He isn’t able to return to activities at MOWA anymore but I started volunteering at MOWA so he could feel connected to the place he loves. I share stories about volunteering at the gallery with him and he tells me about his experiences when he volunteered. I look forward to my time at MOWA and feel like a part of the family.

What is a highlight from Art & Chalk Fest?
Watching the artists create their amazing chalk art while enjoying live music, delicious food and other activities throughout the weekend is something you have to experience!
